Anime: Pictures of real life locations by series
title
not intended to be taken seriously |
| Since
our connections with English speaking people on the net... who
actually know something about Japan... are at least fifty percent
pop culture related... i thought this would be a good idea ( though
i might be wrong ). A list of anime titles ( and a dorama ) that
take place at real locations in Japan, partially or in whole.
Well we did not follow screenshots as close as some other sites
on the net ^.^' ( let me excuse myself for being 'admiring' such
people... from a distance ! ) but at least you can recognize some
of the animated stuff on the photos even if from a different angle
:-P
Not that this concept was on my mind when i made the photos (
except for Aomori :) but once sorting them i kind of realized
this theme. The list was put together with the help of others.
If you know of a title-location combo that is featured on our
site, drop a line at the chat page, and we'll add it !

Half of the world and all of Tokyo...

the Book Town in Kanda.

Shimokita
... well, there aren't too many references to real life places
in the series, but remember the place that keeps being mentioned
throughout the episodes, whenever Mimiru is trying to convince
Tsukasa to not hate life (that much) and actually have a conversation
? And says they could go to Shimokita, minamiguchi shotengai,
that shopping town at the south gate which both of them liked.
Well, yeah it is a cool place to be.

Tokyo in general with lots of scenes
at landfills in the bay, like Tokyo
Teleport, which is funny for when the episodes were made it
was probably still under construction... |

I didn't like this series particularly but loved the parody of
stereotyping kansaijin... Osaka is more
or less recognizable in the series... The bay area, and the Tsuutenkaku
tower in Shinsekai. |

Kyoto ... well... actually it's an imaginary
place called Kotomachi ( old town ) but it's an open "secret"
that all of its places and streets were heavily inspired by actual
Kyoto scenes, mostly the Higashiyama temple district.

All over Tokyo. But just compare that
( imaginary ) golden era Ginza to the Ginza
it is right now and you'll know how officer Ikari Keiichi
felt by the end of the series.
